Episode one: why slowly

Enova Studio

1 min read

There is no guest in this one. It is eleven minutes explaining why a podcast about people who work in decades needs to be recorded in their workshops rather than a studio, and what I intend to do with the silences.

If the room is doing something, the room is part of the interview. I would rather have a compressor than a clean take.

In this episode

  1. 00:30 What this is, and the three rules.
  2. 03:10 Arrive early, ask nothing for an hour.
  3. 06:00 Why I am not going to edit out the pauses.
  4. 09:15 The one question every guest will get.

Mentioned

  • The Craftsman by Richard Sennett
  • Field Notes, the letter this grew out of
  • A car battery, on which the next episode depends

Recorded at my own desk, which is the only episode that will be.
